Each suite at Enkakenya was made from the land around it — timber stilts, four-poster beds of driftwood, Persian runners on wooden floors. Every one of them faces the Olare Orok River.
There are eleven suites at Enkakenya. Not twelve. Not twenty. Eleven — because that is exactly how many this stretch of the Olare Orok can hold without losing what makes it sacred.
Each suite opens to the river. Each has a private deck, a wooden soaking tub that fills with water heated by the Kenyan sun, and a bed of driftwood that feels like it grew here. No two are identical.
The wooden bathtub — in every suite
8 available
The foundational suite at Enkakenya — and foundational is the wrong word. There is nothing basic about a driftwood four-poster bed framing a view of the Olare Orok, about a wooden tub that opens to the full breadth of the Mara, about falling asleep to the sound of hippos moving through the river below.
Eight tents. Each one intimate. Each one facing the water.

The grandest suite
The most expansive suite on the property. The Director's Tent — called the Savannah suite in its rate — is the choice for those who want more of everything: more space, more privacy, more of the Mara laid out before them. Couples celebrating something rare. Guests who do not rush.
The same river view. A larger footprint. Its own uninterrupted corner of the camp.
Up to 5 guests
The Mara belongs to the next generation too. The Family Tent accommodates up to five guests — parents, children, a grandparent, a small group of friends — in a suite that never feels crowded. There is something particular about watching a child see their first giraffe from a private river deck.
This is where families remember who they are to each other.
Elevated on timber stilts above the riverine forest, the Starbed is not a suite. It is a reckoning. The bed faces east — the Mara rises to meet you before anything else does. Below, the Olare Orok moves through the dark. Above, the Southern Cross burns unobstructed.
There is a shelter suite beneath for when the rain comes. On clear nights — and most nights here are clear — you will sleep under more stars than you knew existed.
All accommodation at Enkakenya is full board. There are no hidden extras, no à la carte surprises. Your stay is complete from the first morning tea to the last campfire ember.
Served on your private deck as the Mara comes alive. Fresh from the camp kitchen and garden.
Returning from the bush to a table of homemade bites and a pot that's already waiting.
Three meals daily, prepared by our chef using produce from the organic shamba within the camp.
The Maasai warrior lights the fire as darkness arrives. This is the heart of an evening at Enkakenya.
Your stay directly supports the Maasai communities of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Available in the main lounge. In the tents and on the river deck, the signal is deliberately absent.
Discreet, thorough, and arranged around your schedule so the tent is always yours.
Our Maasai staff are present through the night. You are safe. You are looked after.
